Robert L. Walter, a retired engineering technician, died Wednesday at Venice (Fla.) Hospital after a long illness. He was 72 and had been a resident of Venice for the past 4 1/2 years.
Services for Mr. Walter were being held today at the McCully funeral establishment, 237 E. Patapsco Ave.
Born and raised in Baltimore, he was a graduate of Southern High School. He later attended the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers trade school. Mr. Walter held an electrical contractor's license for Anne Arundel County.
Mr. Walter, who was employed at the Coast Guard Yard in Curtis Bay for 36 years, retired in 1974 and moved to Bethany Beach, Del., where he built a home for his family.
