Two Receive Medals

Service notes

Two area members of the Army have received medals.

Sgt. Billy B. White Jr., a military police specialist at Aberdeen Proving Ground, has received the Good Conduct Medal.

He is the son of Ruth L. Longsine, of Denison. His wife, Valerie,is the daughter of Liovannia and Luz Felizzola, of Edgewood.

Spec. Andrew J. Harbison has received the Army Achievement Medal, awardedfor outstanding accomplishments.

He is the son of James E. and Martha L. Harbison of Fallston, and a 1981 graduate of Valley Forge Military Academy, Wayne, Pa.


Three from the areahave completed basic training. They are:

* Army Pvt. Bruce N. Freyer Jr., at Fort Knox, Ky.

During the training, students received instruction in drill and ceremonies, weapons, map reading, tactics, military courtesy, military justice, first aid and Army history and traditions.

Freyer is the son of Brenda S. and Bruce N. Freyer of Conowingo. He is a 1989 graduate of Rising Sun High School.

* Navy Airman David S. Hooper, son of Ronnie and Shirley Hooper of Street, atRecruit Training Center, San Diego.

Hooper studied subjects designed to prepare him for further academic and on-the-job training in one of the Navy's 85 basic fields.

A 1987 graduate of North Harford High School, he joined the Na

vy in November 1990.

* Marine Pfc. Henry J. Bankard, son of Margaret and Henry J. Bankard Jr. of Bel Air, at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S.C.

During the 13-week training cycle, Bankard was taught the basics of battlefield survival.

A 1990 graduate of C. Milton Wright High School, he joined the Marine Corps in November 1990.


Pvt. 1st Class Kevin L. Earl has graduated from the Patriot operator andsystem mechanic course at Fort Bliss, El Paso, Texas.

Earl is theson of George and Evelyn Earl of Havre de Grace. His wife, Shirl, isthe daughter of Volley and Bertha Taylor, also of Havre de Grace.

He is a 1981 graduate of Aberdeen High School.


Pvt. George M. Curry has graduated from the utilities equipment repairer course at Fort Belvoir, Va.

He is the son of George and Diane Curry of Fallston and a 1990 graduate of Fallston High School.


Marine Pfc. Michael T. Bullard, son of Harvey Bullard of Edgewood, recently reported for duty with Marine Corps Security Force Company, Naval Weapons Station Earle, Colts Neck, N.J.

A 1990 graduate of Edgewood High School, he joined the Marine Corps in July 1990.
