Thunder preview

April 05, 1991|By Doug Brown

* WHEN: Tomorrow, 8 p.m.

* WHERE: Baltimore Arena.

* OUTLOOK: The Thunder, the American Division winner, is playing in its first Major Indoor Lacrosse League championship game since capturing the title in the league's maiden season in 1987. The Turbos, last a year ago, cruised to the National Division title with the best record (8-2) in the league. Detroit's only losses were to the New York Saints.

The Turbos came to life thanks to the arrival from Syracuse of the Gait twins, Paul and Gary, who finished one-two in the MILL goals race. The Thunder relies on the scoring of Jeff Jackson, John Nostrant and Rick Sowell and Jeff Gombar's goaltending.

The advance ticket sale is 5,600; more than 5,100 tickets remain.
