* Navy Fireman Eric R. Bowen, son of Robert M. and Linda L. Bowen ofSykesville, has completed recruit training at Recruit Training Command, Orlando, Fla.
A 1990 graduate of Liberty High School, he joined the Navy in June 1990.
* Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class David F. Sowers, son of John E. and Sandra C. Sowers of Hampstead, recently completed the surface sonartechnician course and was promoted to his present rank.
During the course -- conducted at Fleet Anti-Submarine Warfare Training Center, San Diego -- Sowers studied methods used to describe sounds in sea water, sonar capabilities of anti-submarine warfare equipment, and fire control and weapons systems.
He also received training on electronic testing and repair equipment.
A 1989 graduate of North Carroll High School, he joined the Navy in June 1990.
* Michael A. Bowles, son of Larry and Suzie Bowles of Westminster, has joined the Armyunder the Delayed Entry Program.
He will become eligible to receive the $25,200 Army College Fund upon the completion of his enlistment. Bowles will report for basic training at Fort Jackson, S.C., in July.
Following basic training, Bowles will attend advanced individual training at Fort Devens, Mass., to become a Morse interceptor.
The Morse interceptor job or military occupation specialty is part ofthe Army's electronic warfare/cryptological operations career management field.
Electronic warfare is highly specialized and unique tothe military. However, many civilian employers regard an EW background as highly desirable. Typical employers of EW personnel are electronics manufacturers and telecommunications companies.
Bowles is scheduled to graduate from Westminster High School in June.
