March 31, 1991

A Baltimore man was missing last night and believed drowne after his boat apparently capsized off Carroll Island in eastern Baltimore County yesterday morning.

Police suspended their search at sunset and planned to resume this morning.

Cpl. Ralph Parker of the state Natural Resources Police said that Anthony Cerrato III, 25, of the 500 block of Ross Road was with one other person on a 16-foot powerboat when it tipped over near the mouth of the Gunpowder River. The other person made it back to shore. Corporal Parker said he did not know whether the boat had been recovered and could not provide the name of the other boater.

Natural Resources Police dispatched a boat and a helicopter, and state police sent a helicopter to search the waters off Carroll Point. Baltimore County police also assisted.

Corporal Parker said the missing man was apparently the owner of the boat. The accident occurred about 9 a.m. but was not reported to Natural Resources Police until about 3 p.m.
