* OUTLOOK: Bleak is the best way to describe the Blast's situation going into this pair of weekend games against the two hottest teams in the MSL.

Despite Wichita's 8-4 loss to Dallas last night, there is no breathing room. Wichita (19-30) is still within two games of Baltimore with three to play. And with games against St. Louis, Cleveland (twice) and Dallas remaining, the Blast has to do a lot of playing.

In St. Louis, the Blast faces a very confident team. The Storm has won the last three meetings with the Blast, and has won 12 of its last 13 home games. With Wednesday's 7-6 double-overtime victory against Cleveland, the Storm clinched second place in the Western Division, and still has an outside shot to catch division leader San Diego.

Defender Bruce Savage (flu) is questionable tonight, as is rookie Chris Simon (back ache).

Ailing Tim Wittman had hoped to be in the lineup for tomorrow's game here, but said he still isn't anywhere near top form. Even worse news is that the Crunch has crushed nearly everyone in a dream-like march to the top of the Eastern Division. Cleveland has won 15 of its last 17 games and is 20-7 since Trevor Dawkins took over as coach.
