Sue Holman-Audi, a registered nurse at the state's Crownsville Hospital Center, died of cancer Tuesday at University Hospital. She was 54.

The former Sue Wilkerson was a native of Greenville, Miss., and had held health-care jobs with state and private agencies and hospitals since she first moved to the Baltimore area about 27 years ago.

Her family described Ms. Holman-Audi as "a professional student" because of her love of taking courses at various colleges in the area, including Loyola College, the Community College of Baltimore and the University of Maryland Baltimore County, where she received a bachelor's degree in psychology in 1977.

She received her certification as a licensed practical nurse in Baltimore and earned her nursing degree in Massachusetts.

Her survivors include a daughter, Robin L. Washington of Baltimore; a son, Donald J. Washington of Tampa, Fla.; and two grandsons. Also surviving are her mother, Jessie Wilkerson of Jackson, Miss.; two brothers, Irving and Rodney Wilkerson, both of Jackson; three sisters, Jean Thornell of Mobile, Ala., Alberta Wilkerson of Jackson and Rose Wilkerson of Columbia, S.C.; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held today at the Collins Funeral Home in Jackson. The family suggested memorial donations to the Cancer Center at University Hospital.
