Blast preview

March 27, 1991|By Sandra McKee

VS. K.C. COMETS

* WHEN: Tonight, 8:35.

* WHERE: Kemper Arena.

* TV/RADIO: Channel 45/WCAO-AM (600).

* OUTLOOK: The Kansas City Comets can wrap up second place in the Eastern Division with a victory tonight. The Comets (24-23) are on a three-game winning streak and will have Jim Gorsek in the net. Gorsek is 4-1 vs. the Blast this season, while the Comets are 4-3. Kim Roentved (inflamed pelvis) is out and Gino Schiraldi (thigh bruise) is questionable.

The Blast (20-27) has lost nine of its last 10 games and is only 1 1/2 games ahead of the Wichita Wings in the battle for the last playoff spot in the East. The Wings are idle tonight, which means the Blast can gain some breathing room. If the Blast goes 1-4 over its last five games and the Wings manage a 2-2 record, Wichita makes the cut and the Blast does not.
