ROBBERY/ARRESTS: Northern District -- Police charged two men in the robbery of Derrick Murrell, of the first block of Debonair Court, that occurred in the 500 block of E. 33rd St. Police said Murrell was robbed of his leather jacket, watch and nylon carrying bag by two men, one armed with a handgun. Acting on a tip, police arrested Rodney Jeffries, 19, of the 1100 block of Montpelier St., and Renard Wheeler, 19, of the 700 block of E. 33rd St. Jeffries was released on $5,000 bond and Wheeler was being held in lieu of $75,000 bond.

HOLDUP TRY/ARREST: Northern District -- Police investigating the attempted armed robbery of the Open House Restaurant in the 200 block of W. 29th St. arrested a man at his home and charged him with offense. Police said a man armed with a handgun entered the restaurant Sunday and demanded money. The assailant struck two people with the gun but fled without taking any money. On Monday, police went to a dwelling in the 1600 block of Stonewood Road and arrested Rodney Smith, 24, and charged him with attempted armed robbery and assault.

ROBBERY: Western District -- Sherry Watts, of the 1700 block of N. Fulton Ave., reported she was in the 2000 block of W. Lafayette Ave. yesterday morning when a man with a revolver accosted her robbed her of her purse containing cash and other goods, all valued at more than $200.

ROBBERY: Southwestern District -- Louis Hammond, of the 4600 block of Manordene Road, reported that a man with a handgun accosted him near his home and robbed him of cash and personal items, all valued at nearly $130.

ROBBERY: Southwestern District -- Yvonne Shipley, of the 2100 block of Allendale St., reported that she was robbed of money by a man who forced his way into her home early Monday. Shipley told police the intruder struck her in the face and stole an undetermined amount of money from her coat. Police said Shipley was not seriously injured.

ROBBERY: Western District -- Jamal Johnson, of the 100 block of Irving St., told police he was robbed of cash and property, all valued at $70, by a man who attacked him in the 1900 block of Edmondson Ave. Monday morning and struck him several times with a baseball bat. Police said Johnson sustained minor head injuries.

BURGLARY: Western District -- A resident of the 2500 block of Baker St. reported that someone forced open his front door and stole tools valued at nearly $500.

ASSAULT/ARREST: Western District -- Police arrested a male juvenile and charged him with shooting another youth with a BB pistol. Police said the injured youth, a resident of the 1800 block ,, of Riggs Ave., was in the 1100 block of Riggs Ave. when he was shot with a BB fired by the suspect, a resident of the 1000 block of N. Woodyear St. Police said the BB struck the victim's eyeglasses, causing the lens to break. Police said the victim sustained a minor eye injury. Following his arrest, the accused was released into the custody of his parents pending action by juvenile authorities.

BURGLARY: Western District -- A resident of the 2500 block of W. Lanvale St. reported that someone broke into his home and stole a VCR, at least 20 movie tapes and a telephone, all valued at more than $500.

BURGLARY: Northern District -- Employees of Frank C. Long & Sons in the 3000 block of Greenmount Ave. reported that someone broke in through a window on two occasions and stole more than $100 in cash.

THEFT: Northeastern District -- Employees of Thorn Rentals in the 5400 block of Sinclair Lane reported that someone broke into a company truck while it was parked on company property and stole a $30 radio.

THEFT: Northeastern District -- Nancy Schramm, of the 2500 bock of Strathmore Ave., reported that someone stole $400 worth of property from her front porch.

BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- A resident of the 6500 block of Falkirk Road reported that someone broke into his home through a first-floor window and stole a 19-inch TV set valued at nearly $400.

THEFT: Northeastern District -- Judy Sarvis, of the 1000 block of Armistead Way, reported that someone stole a $100 lawn mower from her front yard.

THEFT/ARREST: Northeastern District -- Police responded to a shoplifting call yesterday at the Burlington Coat Factory in the 1500 block of Havenwood Road and arrested a woman and a female juvenile, 17, who allegedly failed to pay for $300 worth of clothing. valued at more than $300. The juvenile was released in the custody of her parents pending action by juvenile authorities. The adult, April Jones, 19, of the 1600 block of Argonne Drive, was charged with theft and was held pending a bail hearing.

BURGLARY: Northern District -- Officials of Homewood Hospital

South in the 2700 block of N. Charles St. reported that someone entered a room with a key and stole two TV sets, together valued at $1,000.

BURGLARY: Northern District -- A resident of the 800 block of Bradhurst Road reported that someone entered his home through an unlocked rear door and stole a VCR valued at $500.
