Services for Beatrice Elizabeth Day Evans, a longtime resident of Cherry Hill, will be at 11:30 a.m. tomorrow at the Joseph L. Russ Funeral Home, 2222 W. North Avenue.
Mrs. Evans, a native of North Carolina, died of cancer Thursday at the Joseph Ritchie Hospice in Baltimore. She was 70.
Married in Burlington, N.C., to William Clavon Evans, she and her husband moved to Baltimore in 1946 and settled in Cherry Hill, where she spent the rest of her life raising children and caring for her family.
She provided strength and help to many neighbors, who often called on her for favors with baking and sewing, at which Mrs. Evans excelled.
"She never turned anyone away," said her daughter, Linda Evans.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Evans is survived by three daughters, Mary Jo Evans, Laverne D. Williams and Linda Evans, all of Baltimore; a son, William C. Evans Jr. of Baltimore; three sisters, Ollie Mae Pennix, Mittie Fuller and Sallie Ingram, all of Burlington, N.C.; three brothers, James Day of Washington, John Warren of Mebane, N.C., and William Warren of Greensboro, N.C.; and four grandchildren.
