Air Force Staff Sgt. Craig W. Montgomery, son of Hollis and Iris Montgomery of Columbia, and Army Sgt. Henry H. Newman, son of Henry and Leida Newman of Sykesville, are serving in the Middle East with U.S. military forces participating in Operation Desert Storm.

Montgomery, an aerospace propulsion technician at Pope Air Force Base, N.C., is a 1977 graduate of Oakland Mills High School.

Newman, a computer operator at Fort Belvoir, Va., is a 1977 graduate of Queens College, N.Y.

KOZAK STUDIES SHIPS

Navy Ensign Kevin J. Kozak, son of Donald and Teresa Kozak of Ellicott City, has completed the Basic Surface Warfare Officer's Course.

Kozak received instruction on the duties of an underway officer of the deck, which include ship-handling and maneuvering in formation under simulated battleconditions.

A 1986 graduate of Mount Hebron High School, he joined the Navy in May 1990

MOHEN ENDS NAVY TRAINING

Navy Seaman Recruit Michael Mohen, son of Suzanne and Lee Mohen of Columbia, has completed recruit training at Great Lakes, Ill.

During Mohen's eight-week training cycle, he studied general military subjects designed to prepare him for further academic and on-the-job training in one of the Navy's 85 basic fields.

A 1989 graduate of Hammond High School, hejoined the Navy in November 1990.

MOHNEY IS NEW RECRUIT

Navy Airman Recruit James E. Mohney, son of Jeannie Wroten of Sykesville, has completed recruit training in San Diego.

His studies included seamanship, close-order drill, naval history and first aid.

Mohney is a 1988 graduate of Liberty High School.

ENSIGN DUBOIS IN R.I.

NavyEnsign Ronald A. duBois, son of Maurice and Ann duBois of Ellicott City, has completed the Basic Surface Warfare Officer's Course in Newport, R.I.

The officer received extensive instruction in radar detection, shipboard organization and the plotting of enemy aircraft, ships and missiles.

A 1986 graduate of Mount Hebron High School, duBois joined the Navy in May 1990.

DILUCENTE REPORTS FOR DUTY

Navy Lt. Cmdr. Dennis J. DiLucente, son of Bruno and Helen DiLucente of Columbia, recently reported for duty with Fighter Squadron 124, Naval AirStation, Miramar, Calif.

DiLucente is a 1976 graduate of the U.S.Naval Academy with a bachelor of science degree and a 1989 graduate of the University of California, Santa Barbara, with a master of science degree.

WOODS IN BOOT CAMP

Marine Pfc. James C. Woods, son of Joel and Jean Woods of Laurel, has completed recruit training at Parris Island, S.C.

Woods participated in an active physical conditioning program and gained proficiency in a variety of skills such as first aid, rifle marksmanship and close-order drill.

He is a 1990 graduate of Laurel High School.

ELY COMPLETES BASIC

Pvt. David R. Ely, son of Richard and Marilyn Ely of Ellicott City, has completed basic training at Fort Jackson, S.C.

Ely is a 1990 graduate of Centennial High School.

RECRUIT TRAINING OVER

Navy Seaman Recruit Andrew W. Bounds, son of Robert Bounds of Ellicott City, has completed recruit training at Great Lakes, Ill.

A 1988 graduate of Mount Hebron High School, Bounds joined the Navy in September.
