Towson gymanasts seek 5th title in row

March 22, 1991

The Towson State women's gymnastics team goes for an unprecedented fifth straight ECAC championship tomorrow at Pitt. The top-seeded Tigers will be tested by, in order of seed, New Hampshire, William & Mary, Pitt, Maryland, Northeastern and James Madison.

Ranked No. 16 nationally, Towson State has been bolstered in recent weeks by the return of junior Wendy Weaver and sophomore Gabby Linarducci. Weaver, the 1990 ECAC all-around champ, returned in midseason from a shoulder injury. Linarducci, the team's top all-around in her absence, is coming back from a back injury.

Coach Dick Filbert has used depth to plug his lineup, with Kim O'Keefe, a freshman from Bricktown, N.J., posting the top all-around score in two of the Tigers' last six meets. Her score of 38.15 at the TSU Invitational is the Tigers' No. 2 all-time.
