Wings' Borja, Byrne may be out for season

Wichita Wings forwards Chico Borja and David Byrne could miss the remainder of the season because of injuries. Byrne broke the little toe on his right foot during a weekend game against Kansas City and will have the break re-examined in 10 days. Borja severely sprained his right ankle in the same game. The ankle has remained so swollen that X-rays have not been taken.

The Wings, 18-28 and in the Eastern Division basement, have six games remaining, including tomorrow night's game against the Blast at the Kansas Coliseum.

Borja is the team's second-leading scorer with 28 goals, 38 assists for 66 points. Bryne, a former member of the Blast, has 15 goals and 20 assists.

Kansas City also received bad news yesterday when it learned that Kim Roentved will be out indefinitely. Roentved has been bothered by a series of groin pulls and abdominal strains. He is on a week-to-week basis. The 11-year defensive veteran has 16 goals, 18 assists and 67 blocked shots in 38 games.
