Coaches' comments: BOYS -- "They're very young. Matt Davis is one of the premier milers around. Matt Davis is like a real leader out there. We don't havetoo many sprinters." GIRLS -- "The one thing that we have are distance runners. We're going to win a lot of battles (events) but lose a lot of wars (meets). I'm pretty optimistic about our kids."

The Carroll County Sun's outlook: BOYS -- After Davis, the quality and experience drops off quickly, but newcomer Adam Franklin and a couple of freshmen could give the Panthers some good jumpers. After Britton, theteam is light in throwing events. The Panthers might be good enough to challenge for third in the county. GIRLS -- Douglass, Poznaniak and Whiting are the foundation for this team. With some depth in the middle distance events, some runners may drop down to fill out sprint relay teams. Several freshmen could help the team immediately, but they are in the hurdles and jumps, where the team has some performers. The team lacks depth in the weight events, too.
