SYKESVILLE — About 120 people turned out Sunday for a Main Street ceremony to help the Knights of Columbus dedicate their new home.
With a portion of Main Street blocked off and the South Carroll High Symphonic Band performing, the Knights conducted an open house of the new headquarters, the historic Warfield Building, which they bought last summer. Renovation was completed in January.
"It is a day for us to enjoy and reflect on the tremendous sense of accomplishment we feel," said Knights member Ron White during the 40-minute program.
State Sen. Larry Haines, R-Carroll, Baltimore, spoke to the gathering. State Delegate Richard Dixon, D-Carroll, alsowere on the platform, along with County Commissioners Donald Dell and Elmer Lippy, and Mayor Lloyd R. Helt Jr. how the commissioners set it up.
