Thunder preview

March 15, 1991|By Doug Brown

VS. PHILADELPHIA WINGS

* WHEN: Sunday, 1:30 p.m.

* WHERE: Spectrum, Philadelphia.

* OUTLOOK: The Thunder needs to win one of its two remaining regular-season games -- both against the Wings -- to clinch the American Division title and ensure its first appearance in the Major Indoor Lacrosse League championship game since 1987. The Wings, who raised their record to 4-4 with last week's victory over Pittsburgh, can take the division title with back-to-back wins over the Thunder (5-3). If Philadelphia wins Sunday, the division champion will be determined in the Thunder-Wings game March 23 at the Baltimore Arena.

The Detroit Turbos (7-2) already have clinched the National Division title. The MILL championship game will be played April 6 or 7 at the home arena of the team with the highest regular-season attendance. With one game in each city remaining, Philadelphia's attendance is 61,425, Baltimore's 34,413, Detroit's 30,975.
