British Boxing Board -- Fined WBO middleweight champion Chris Eubank $19,000 and reprimanded him for head-butting in title fight Feb. 23 against Canadian Dan Sherry.


The Big Ten -- Reprimanded and censured Indiana coach Bob Knight and Illinois coach Lou Henson for verbal spat after Sunday's men's basketball game in Champaign, Ill.

Eastern Montana -- Announced resignation of Ernie Wheeler, men's basketball coach.

Florida State -- Announced resignation of Steve Winterling, assistant baseball coach, to become coach at Pasco-Hernando Community College.

Louisiana State -- Named Thielen Smith linebacker coach.

Texas-San Antonio -- Signed Bobby Thompson, AD; Stu Starner, men's basketball coach; and Mary Ann McLaughlin, women's basketball coach; to 3-year contracts.

Texas Tech -- Announced resignation of Gerald Myers, men's basketball coach.

Virginia Tech -- Reassigned basketball coach Frankie Allen to administrative position. Allen said he asked for change because of losing record and poor attendance at games.


Kansas City Chiefs -- Signed KR Lew Barnes, G Larry Williams, RB Kimble Anders and RB Ernest Thompson.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers -- Named Tom Schertz assistant offensive coach.


NHL -- Fined Chicago Blackhawks G Ed Belfour an additional $500 for incident involving referee Dan Marouelli in game with Montreal Canadiens on March 6. Belfour received automatic $100 fine at time of incident.

New Jersey Devils -- Returned RW Jeff Madill (4 goals, 0 assists) to Utica. Moved D Al Stewart from retired list to suspended list.

St. Louis Blues -- Recalled RW David Bruce, who had 64 goals, 52 assists at Peoria (IHL). His goal total ranks second in professional hockey to Blues' Brett Hull's 77.
