Tuesday night, a man described by police as "polite" walked into a Severna Park convenience store and demanded cash from the clerk.

Police say the man approached a clerk at the High's store, in the 100 block Ritchie Highway, and told her, "Madam, I have a .38 in my pocket. Will you open the register? Because I don't want to shoot you." Police say the man never showed a gun.

The clerk gave the man $40 and was ordered to lie on the floor. After she heard him leave, she sounded the burglar alarm.

In addition to his manners, police describe the suspect as a black male, 5 feet 2 inches tall wearing a black hooded sweat shirt, a black leather jacket, long blue jeans rolled up at the bottom, black combat boots, a brown knit had with a triangle on the front, dark complexion with a possible mustache.
