WESTMINSTER — Barbara Charnock, a member of the Carroll Community College AdvisoryBoard since 1984 and chairman for the past three years, has become one of the first contributors to the CCC Founders' Endowment Fund.

"Education has always held a high priority within our family and I amhappy to be able to continue the tradition by helping to firmly establish Carroll Community College," Charnock said.

A graduate of Towson State Teachers College, now Towson State University in Baltimore County, she taught at Woodlawn Middle School, then Deer Park Middle School, where she presently is an instructional aide while she pursues a master's degree at TSU.

At CCC, she has served on the Master Plan Committee for the construction of the new campus, then became a member of the board, a board committee member and finally, chairwoman.

Each eligible donation to the CCC Founders' Endowment Fund will be matched dollar for dollar by the state's new program encouraging the formation of endowments at community colleges.

Contributors have the option of paying their tax-deductible donation over a five-year period. Charnock's name will be added to those of other founders on a plaque in the college's board room.
