3 Named To Park Board

WESTMINSTER — The City Council reappointed two members of the city's parks and recreation board and appointed one new member.

At its regular meetingMonday night, the council approved returning Jay Voight and James Young and also added new member Thomas Mitchell.

Mitchell will take the spot vacated by Marie Bantner, who decidednot to seek reappointment to the parks board.

Also on Monday, thecouncil granted a request to close a portion of Distillery Drive onMonday, March 25, when the Department of Social Services will conduct a food surplus giveaway.

The council also approved Police Chief Sam Leppo's request to erect speed limit signs along Cranberry Road in the Carroll Meadows subdivision. The request came after police received complaints from residents about speeding motorists, Leppo said. The police department will erect 30-mph speed limit signs that also indicate the street is monitored by radar.

The council's next meeting is scheduled for Monday, March 25, at 7:30 p.m. in City Hall.
