How would you describe your taste in clothing?

Functional is the best way to describe my clothing. The nature of my business and what I have to do on any particular day dictates what I wear. I never know where I'm going to be, but I am lucky that I'm not tied down to suits. In the field, I wear khakis, boots or loafers, tie and perhaps a sweater. If I'm placing plants, I wear more casual stuff.

What's the newest thing in your closet?

A brown leather coat, with big shoulders, that my wife gave me for Christmas.

What's the oldest thing in your closet?

I have a tendency to hold on to things, so I'll have to guess a pair of jeans that date back to the 70's.

Do you have a true "standby" that you wear to feel good?

I have a lot of cardigan sweaters that I wear instead of a jacket and I feel presentable.

What is your wardrobe weakness?

Khaki pants and loafers. I bet I have 30 khaki pants and at least eight pairs of loafers. I like to wear patterned or colored socks that match the shirt I'm wearing. The people I work with expect me to wear something different.

What's the most expensive item in your closet?

When I shop many times I don't look at the price, so I don't really know. Sometimes, I shop when I need to lift my mood.

What's the least expensive item in your closet?

I guess most people would say socks, but even my socks are expensive, so I don't know.

What's the wildest outfit you've ever bought?

My cycling clothes are really wild colors. I color coordinate my clothes to my bike color which is sea foam green. I have a hot pink jersey, with Lycra tight form fitting black shorts, pink gloves, pink socks, and my special cycling shoes are black. I even have pink wrist bands. I also have a windbreaker jacket that has turquoise, sea foam green and blues in it and goes well with the bike. My helmet is bright yellow and I also have yellow gloves to go with that.

Have you ever worn a hat?

In the summer I wear a big Panama hat because I'm fair and my forehead burns easily.

What are your favorite accessories?

I like suspenders, different watches and belts. I have a woven belt that I tie in a knot when I wear it. My watches tend to be traditional. My wife brought me a nice one from Singapore.

Does your wife buy clothes for you?

Yes, she does a good job and I love everything she picks. I think I spend more money on clothes than she does.

Do you have any shopping tips you'd like to share?

I like to combine different textures and colors, so I would suggest that men experiment with color for an interesting look.

If you could buy anything you wanted, what would it be?

I'd really like to get a double breasted suit and coordinate the whole look from top to bottom.
