County police are investigating a kidnapping that occurred Wednesdayafternoon when a man with a knife took cash and jewelry from a 40-year-old Columbia woman, who was forced to drive him to numerous automatic teller bank machines.
At each of the automatic bank locations,the man used the woman's cash card to withdraw money from her account, police said.
The woman and her 11-year-old daughter were approached by the manshortly before 4:30 p.m. in the parking lot of the Parkview building, in the 10500 block of Little Patuxent Parkway.
Police say the man ordered the woman and her daughter back into their car and threatened that he would harm them if they didn't hand over their valuables. The woman then gave him her jewelry and a small amount of cash, police said.
Over the next two hours, the man ordered the woman to drive to several bank machines in the Baltimore area, police said. At approximately 6:30 p.m., the man left after being driven to an unidentified location in Baltimore city.
Neither of the victims was injured, police said. Several hundred dollars was taken from the woman's bank account.

7200 block Oakland Mills Road: March 3, several pieces of electronic equipment were reported stolen at 2:30 a.m. from a home forcibly entered through a sliding glass door.
9000 block Dumhart Road:March 2, a 1988 Toyota pickup truck was reported stolen at 6 a.m. from a residential area.
6300 block Loudon Avenue: March3, a 1983 Ford Escort automobile was reported stolen at 9:30 a.m. from a residential area.
9200 block Redbridge Court: March5, stereo equipment was reported stolen at 6:45 a.m. from a home forcibly entered through a sliding glass door.
8700 block U.S. 1: March 4, jewelry and electronic equipment were reported stolenat 7:30 p.m. from a home entered when someone broke through a glass door.
