Bodnar Top Soldier

Army Specialist Robert C. Bodnar has been named soldier of the month.

He is an armor crew member in Berlin.

The soldier is the son of Andrew R. and Angela T. Bodnar of Millersville.

His wife, Mary, is the daughter of Charles and Elizabeth Straub of Crofton.

He graduated from Old Mill Senior High School in 1985 and Catonsville Community College in 1989.

COMPLETE BASIC TRAINING

Several area servicemen recently completed basic military training:

* Army National Guard Pfc. Thomas L. Chapman, son of Susan L. Chapman of Severn, completed his training at Fort Jackson, S.C. Chapman is a 1990 graduate of Meade Senior High School.

* Navy Seaman Recruit DeWayne Thomspon, a 1990 graduate of Annapolis Senior High School of Annapolis, completed his training at Recruit Training Center, Great Lakes, Ill.

* Airman 1st Class Robert F. Hartley, son of retired Air Force Master Sgt. Robert E. Harlty of Warner Robins, Ga.,completed his training at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas. Hartley isa 1984 graduate of Arundel Senior High School.

* Airman Anthony T. Williams Jr., son of Anthony T. Williams Sr. of Severn and Mildred A. Williams of San Antonio, completed his training at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas. Wiliams is a 1990 graduate of Meade Senior High School.

* Army Reserve Pvt. Kevin L. Stahl, son of Edward A. and Myrtle W. Stahl of Arnold, completed his training at Fort Sill, Okla. Stahl is a 1990 graduate of Severna Park High School.

* Army Reserve Pvt. Lionel S. Moreland III, son of Lionel S. and Norma L. Moreland ofMillersville, completed his training at Fort Jackson, S.C. Moreland is a 1989 graduate of Old Mill Senior High School.

ARMY'S SMITH NAMED

Pfc. Percy Smith Jr. has been decorated with the Army AchievementMedal.

The medal is awarded to soldiers for meritorious service, acts of courage or other outstanding accomplishments.

He is a military police specialist at Helmstedt, Germany.

The soldier is the son of Percy and Cheryl A. Smith of Glen Burnie.

He is a 1989 graduate of Glen Burnie High School.

PFC. SEKORA HONORED

Pfc. Keith B. Sekora has been decorated with the Army Achievement Medal.

The medal is awarded to soldiers for meritorious service, acts of courage orother outstanding accomplishments.

He is a military police specialist at Helmstedt, Germany.

The soldier is the son of Lynn L. Dunkerly of Glen Burnie and Robert E. Sekora of Green Brook, N.J.

He is a 1988 graduate of Old Mill Senior High School.

HEDETNIEMI PROMOTED

Mark C. Hedetniemi has been promoted in the Air Force to the rankof airman first class.

He is a maintenance scheduling specialist at Plattsburgh Air Force Base, N.Y.

Hedetniemi is the son of Charles J. and Eleanore G. Hedetniemi of Pasadena.

The airman is a 1989graduate of Lake Shore Christian Academy, Pasadena.

ACHIEVEMENT MEDAL

Pfc. Patrick B. Rachal has been decorated with the Army Achievement Medal.

The medal is awarded to soldiers for meritorious service, acts of courage or other outstanding accomplishments.

He is a gunnery crew member at Fort Hood, Texas.

The soldier is the son of Butch and Lynn Rachal of Edgewater.

AEILLO HONORED

Air Force Maj. Michael P. Aeillo has been decorated with the Meritorious Service Medal.

The medal is awarded for outstanding non-combat meritorious achievement for service to the United States.

It is his second award.

He is a navigator and a special reconnaissance officer at OffuttAir Force Base, Neb.

Aeillo is the son of Dominick J. Aeillo of Odenton.

His wife, Cheryl, is the daughter of Al Leblanc of Menominee, Mich.

He is a 1969 graduate of Arundel Senior High School, anda 1975 graduate of the University of Maryland College Park.

MILITARYORDER MEETS

The General George G. Meade chapter of the Military Order of the World Wars met at the Fort Meade Officers Club Feb. 19. The guest speaker was Col. T. Raleigh Mann, installation commander at Fort Meade.

Col. Mann, a Companion of the chapter, gave a presentation of the many activities involved in the support of Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm.

The next chapter meeting will be an evening affair Thursday, March 14 at the Fort Meade Officer's Club.

Social hour will begin at 6:30 p.m., with dinner at 7:30 p.m. The guest speaker will be Representative Thomas McMillan, D-4. All Companions and their guests are encouraged to attend.

All officers of the U.S. Services are welcome to attend. Call for reservations.

* Marine Pvt. Kevin J. Trousdale, son of Mr. and Mrs. William N. Trousdale of Catonsville, completed training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S.C.

WALLING TRAINED

Marine Lance Cpl. M. J. Walling, a 1989 graduate of Arundel Senior High School, recently completed the Vehicle Recovery Course at Marine Corps Service Support Schools, Camp Lejeune, S.C.
