Maryland, GW play tie game

COLLEGE PARK -- Maryland (2-4-1) scored two runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to post a 3-3 tie with George Washington yesterday at Shipley Field. The game was called after nine innings, and will not be rescheduled.

Brett McGonnigal (Loch Raven) led off the bottom of the eighth with a double to left center. First baseman Greg Orlosky brought home McGonnigal, who had advanced to third on a Drew Johnson fly out, on a single and later scored on a single by designated hitter Andy Willis.

Allen Browning had given George Washington (8-4-1) a 3-1 lead with a fifth-inning home run.

Terps pitcher David Mysel threw 6 2/3 innings and struck out 10, and Mike Welch went 7 1/3 and struck out six for the Colonials.
