Bullets preview

March 06, 1991|By Sandra McKee

* WHEN: Tonight, 7:30.

* WHERE: Capital Centre.

* OUTLOOK: Guard Jeff Malone returns to the Capital Centre for the first time since he was traded to the Jazz last summer. He returns with his team in first place in the Midwest Division, and his 19.2 scoring average is second on the team behind Karl Malone's 28.4.

Even without Jeff Malone, the Jazz has been a tough target for the Bullets. Washington has lost six straight meetings here dating to Nov. 19, 1983, and has not beaten Utah anywhere since Feb. 20, 1987.

Now, on a six-game losing streak and coming off their most unimpressive showing of the season, the Bullets (22-36) do not look like a good bet in this one. But coach Wes Unseld has been running full practices the last two days and was to put the squad through a shoot-around this morning, in an effort toward breaking Utah's hold.

Utah will be without Blue Edwards (strained left ankle), who was put on the injured list Friday. The Bullets' Harvey Grant is probable with a sore ankle, and everyone else is healthy.
