March 06, 1991

MOUNT AIRY — The Town Council said it must consult with county cable commission before the town can temporarily return its public access channel to Prestige Cable TV.

The company recently asked the town for use of the dormant channel, saying the channel was needed for additional programming. The town agreed to the request, on the condition that the channel be returned if the town needs it in the future.

However, the town learned that the cable commission must approve a move to by a municipality to relinquish a channel.
