Police To Stay

March 03, 1991

SYKESVILLE — The town police force will remain intact with a police chief and four officers, despite budgetary problems and rumors of layoffs, said Town Manager James L. Schumacher Friday.

Rumors began surfacing Thursday that one officer would be laid off, but town officials said flatly that no one on the police force would be leaving.

The five-member department allows for one police officer per shift to cover the town on an annual budget of approximately $168,000, Schumacher said.
