Gunman Robs Store On Route 648

A man with a gun robbed a Linthicum convenience store Wednesday, county police said.

Police said the man walked into the store on Route 648 and boughta pack of cigarettes.

When the clerk opened the register, the robber demanded money. The clerk gave him ones, fives and $10 bills.

The man was seen leaving the store in a green 1974 Cadillac.

The robber is described as a white male, about 20-years-old. He was wearing a blue hooded sweat shirt, black vest and jeans.

MAN CHARGED WITH BREAKING, ENTERING

A Pasadena man has been charged with destruction of property after police said he broke into a sporting goods storeearly yesterday morning.

Mark Alan Calentine, 23, of the 8200 block Camion Court, was also charged with breaking and entering and possession of marijuana.

Police said officers saw a man standing in front of Barts Sporting Goods store in the 2400 block of Mountain Road at 12:17 a.m.

When officers approached the man, he started to run away. After a short chase, the officers caught up with him, searched him and found marijuana in his pocket.

Officers also found severaltools on the man, police said.

SPORTS WAGERING CHARGED TO TWO

Two North County men have been charged with gambling after a six-month investigation.

George Melvin White, 42, of the first block Walton Avenue in Brooklyn Park, was charged with four counts of sports-lottery wagering. Vernon Leonard Resau, 48, of the 7600 block Quail Court in Glen Burnie, was charged with two counts each of sports wagering.

Baltimore County police said the men served as clerks to Irving Louis Miller, 44, of the 3400 block Fielding Road in Stevenson who headed the operation.

Miller was arrested at his home Wednesday night. After searching the home and an Owings Mills business he owns, police seized $206,370 and other evidence of a gambling operation.

Miller was charged with four counts of sports-lottery wagering. The men were released on personal recognizance.

Linthicum:

1100 block of McHenry Street: Feb. 26, entry gained through the window. Appliances taken. Total loss: $25.

Odenton:

1300 block Farrara Drive: Feb. 26, entry gained through the door. Nothing taken.

Severn:

8000 block New Colony Court: Feb. 26, entry gained through the window. Unknown propertytaken.
