Rosanne Hammes, a transition specialist in the Division of Special Education in the Maryland Department of Education, died Feb. 15 after a long illness at her home in Columbia.
Mrs. Hammes, who was 63, had worked with disabled youths since 1985.
In 1987, she organized a statewide symposium on helping youths in special education classes move on to jobs, advanced training or adult programs. She also presented papers on the subject at professional meetings.
She went to work for the division in 1975 as a regional administrator. Earlier, she was a special education teacher and administrator in Virginia.
