A Mass of Christian burial for Helen M. Merrick, a member of the Catholic Evidence League, will be offered at 10 a.m. tomorrow at the Shrine of the Sacred Heart, 5800 Smith Ave., Mount Washington.

Mrs. Merrick, who was 86, died Wednesday after an apparent stroke at her home in Woodbrook. She was a longtime member of the Mount Vernon Club.

Mrs. Merrick, who was born Helen McEvoy, liked foreign travel and supported charities.

She was born in Baltimore and educated at the Calvert School and the Bryn Mawr School.

AIn 1927, she married William S. Merrick, who was president of the Greenway Apartments Co. He died in 1989.

Mrs. Merrick is survived by four daughters, Nellie M. Semans of Owings Mills, Charlton M. McLean of Baltimore, Peggy M. McLean of Woodbrook and Agnes M. Merrick of Albuquerque, N.M.; two sons, William S. Merrick Jr. of Woodbrook and Samuel S. Merrick of Lutherville; 12 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

The family has suggested memorial contributions be made to the Shrine of the Sacred Heart.
