Green Hornets Win 3 Games

The Severna Park Green Hornets 8-10 basketball team upped its overall combined record to 39-1 by winning three games this past weekend.

In county league play Saturday, the Severna Park Heat defeated Crofton, 23-20. Mark Teixeira led the way for the winners with 14 points (4-for-4 from the free-throw line).

The other half of the Hornet squad, the Bullets, squeaked by the Annapolis All-Stars, 33-29. Point guard Dennard Melton hit 9 of 10 field goals on his way to a 22-point effort.

On Sunday, the combinedHornets squad routed the Catonsville Hoops, 51-25.

Teixeira led the Hornets in scoring over the weekend with 23 points. Melton followed with 22 points, and Ryan Garritt and James Bowen totaled 12 each. Tim Smith tallied eight points, and Nick Stook and Derek Dixon had sixeach.

Mike Floyd and Nathaniel Jennings each netted five points, Marcus Johnson four, Brian Galloway two, and Sheldon Chase and Matthew Briggs one each.
