Nearly two thirds of callers to SUNDIAL yesterday said that the state should not take over the city school system.
Baltimore legislators have introduced a bill that would require the state to take over the city school system. Del. Paul Weisengoff, a sponsor of the bill, notes that the state has the ability to raise money that the city lacks. Politicians from other counties have criticized the city for lacking commitment to properly fund the school system while agreeing to fund downtown development projects.
