School-takeover proposal

It's your call

February 27, 1991

Baltimore legislators have introduced a bill that would require the state to take over the city's school system. Del. Paul Weisengoff, a sponsor of the bill, notes that the state has the ability to raise money that the city lacks. Politicians from other counties have criticized the city for lacking commitment to properly fund the school system while agreeing to fund downtown development projects.

Do you think the state should take over the city's schools?
