Doris Richardson dies at age 72

Services for Doris L. Richardson, a retired Westinghouse Electric Corp. cafeteria worker, will be at 11 a.m. tomorrow at the Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home, Ritchie Highway at Robinson Road.

Mrs. Richardson, who lived on Wellham Avenue in Ferndale, died of complications of heart surgery Friday at Barnes Hospital at Washington University Medical Center, St. Louis, Mo. She was 72.

Mrs. Richardson, whose maiden name was Doris Fortman, was raised in South Baltimore and was a 1936 graduate of Southern High School.

She worked for ARA Services at the Westinghouse complex near Baltimore-Washington International Airport for more than 30 years.

Her hobbies included painting and gardening, and she was active in animal rights causes.

Her husband of 30 years, John E. Richardson, a Bethlehem Steel shipyard worker, died in 1970.

Mrs. Richardson is survived by two daughters, Terry J. Price of Severna Park and Claire Redmon of Baltimore; two sisters, Kathryn Berger of Pasadena and Adelaide Pennington of Thurmont; five grandchildren; and a great-grandson.

The family suggests that donations be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 17025, Baltimore, Md. 21203.
