Spec. Ronald D. Welsh has been decorated with the Army Achievement Medal.

The medal is awarded to soldiers for meritorious service, acts of courage or other outstanding accomplishments.

He is a communications system maintenance specialist at Pioneer Kaserne, Germany.

Welsh, the son of Ronald and Iris Welsh of Havre de Grace, is a 1986 graduate of Aberdeen High School.

CADET HARTING MAKES AIR FORCE DEAN'S LIST

Cadet Troy R. Harting has been placedon the dean's list for academic excellence at the U.S. Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs, Colo.

To be named to the list, cadets musthave a 3.0 or better grade-point average.

The cadet is the son of Raymond and Gayle Harting of Fallston. He is a 1989 graduate of Fallston High School.

MILLER COMPLETES NAVY RECRUIT TRAINING

Navy Seaman Recruit Clinton E. Miller, son of Marie and William Miller Jr. of Joppatowne, has completed recruit training at Recruit Training Command, Orlando, Fla.

During Miller's eight-week training cycle, he studied general military subjects designed to prepare him for furtheracademic and on-the-job training in one of the Navy's 85 basic fields.

A 1973 graduate of Edgewood High School and a 1978 graduate of the University of Maryland with a bachelor of arts degree, he joined the Navy in November 1990.

KAUFMANN FINISHES OIL SUPPLY COURSE

Army National Guard Pvt. Urban J. Kaufmann Jr. has completed a petroleum supply specialist course at Fort Lee, Petersburg, Va.

Students received instruction in receipt, storage, issue, shipping and distribution of petroleum products used by the Army. Also included in the training were waterfront and pipeline operations, as well as health andsafety hazards.

Kaufmann is the son of Urban J. Kaufmann Sr. of Baltimore.

His wife, Cynthia, is the daughter of Gladys R. Dillman of Darlington.

He is a 1983 graduate of Harford Vocational Technical High School.

GUARD AIRMAN GRAF FINISHES FOOD CLASS

Air National Guard Airman Patrick H. Graf has completed the food services specialist course at Lowry Air Force Base, Denver.

Students were trained in the duties, responsibilities, and preparation of food for the Air Force.

The airman, a 1990 graduate of Edgewood High School, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Clye H. Graf of Abingdon.

CAPIRICHIO PROMOTED TO PRIVATE FIRST CLASS

The U.S. Army has promoted Joshua Capirichio to the rank of private first class.

Capirichio is an infantryman at Fort Bragg, N.C.

The private, a 1990 graduate of C. Milton Wright High School, is the son of Edith Simmons of Havre de Grace.

KEELIN COMPLETES MARINE TRAINING

Marine Pfc. David K. Keelin, son of David and Chang Yon Keelin of Edgewood, has completed recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S.C.

During the 13-week training cycle, Keelin was taught the basics of battlefield survival. He was introduced to the typical daily routine he will experience during his enlistment and studied the personal and professional standardstraditionally exhibited by Marines.

A 1990 graduate of Edgewood High School, he joined the Marine Corps in October 1990.
