Herbert J. Kleiman Area builder

Herbert Jerome Kleiman, who was involved in homebuilding and residential and commercial real estate for many years, died unexpectedly Jan. 28 while at work. He was 61 and a resident of Mount Washington.

Born in Baltimore, he was a graduate of City College and what was then the Baltimore Junior College. He was a sergeant first class in the 3rd Infantry and in the 319th Airborne Army Reserve Unit from 1948 to 1955.

With his father, Mr. Kleiman founded the Haven Home Building Co., specializing in residential construction. Later, he was involved in residential and commercial real estate, and was general partner in the Twin Ridge Apartments.

A lifelong member of Chizuk Amuno Congregation, he was an active member of its brotherhood and service committees. He was a volunteer for Associated Jewish Charities and Chai Organization.

Services for Mr. Kleiman were held Jan. 29.

He is survived by his wife of 34 years, the former Ronnie Rosenberg; a daughter, Alexandra Bulua of Baltimore; a son, Dr. Lee Kleiman of Baltimore; and three grandchildren.
