Salvatore Arcilesi Citadel professor

Salvatore Alfred Arcilesi, a Baltimore native and professor of political science at the Citadel in Charleston, S.C., died Feb. 1 in a Savanna, Ga., hospital and was buried in Charleston Feb. 4.

Mr. Arcilesi, 57, joined the faculty of the Citadel in 1963 and was chairman of its political science department for 15 years.

He attended Baltimore city schools, graduated from the Citadel in 1955 and earned a doctorate from the University of Virginia in 1965. He was a retired U.S. Air Force lieutenant colonel.

Surviving are his wife, Mary Nethkin Arcilesi of Charleston; three daughters, Renee Arcilesi, Michele Arcilesi-Cok, and Jeannine A. Strickland, all of Charleston; two brothers, Charles Arcilesi of Rockville and Richard Arcilesi of Fallston; and two grandchildren.
