BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Canisius opened a 15-point halftime lead, then shot 75 percent from the field in more than doubling its score for a 93-62 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference victory over Loyola College (12-13, 5-9) at Koessler Athletic Center yesterday. The win ended a five-game losing streak for the Golden Griffins (9-15, 3-10).

Kevin Green, who had 39 points in a 60-minute effort during Loyola's four-overtime loss at Niagara Thursday, came back with 20 this time in a more routine 35 minutes. In the process, the junior became the fifth player in school history to surpass the 1,500-point level. He has 1,514.

He passed Tom Gormley (1983-87) at 1,497, and has Mike Krawczyk (1968-72) ahead at 1,676. Jim Lacy is the all-time leader with 2,199.

Tracy Bergan, who has been on a scoring spree of late, had 18 points, to give the starting backcourt 38 points. None of the other Greyhounds had more than six.

Chuck Giscombe led five double-figure Canisius scorers with 21. The winners ended shooting 60 percent to 32.7 for Loyola.
