Murphy Appointed Vp Of Marketing

Universal Title has announced the appointment of Jean L. Murphy as vice president of marketing for the Annapolis and Severna Park divisions.

Murphy is responsible for Universal Title's business development and marketing as well as for conducting commercial and residentialreal estate settlements.

Prior to joining the company, Murphy worked in the real estate industry as a builder representative before entering the title industryin 1982. Since that time, she has been involved in all aspects of the industry, from processing to management.

A current member of theWomen's Council of Realtors in Anne Arundel County, Home Builders Association of Maryland and Mortgage Bankers Association, Murphy works at the Annapolis office.


Donna M. Bassindale of Design Teams Inc., the administrative management company for design firms, recently achieved her Certified Professional Secretary rating, a hallmark of secretarial excellence.

The rating, administered by the Institute for Certifying Secretaries, a department of Professional Secretaries International, is earned by completing and verifying educational and employment experience requirements. In addition, a six-part, two-day examination is administered biannually by the institute.

Bassindale attained her bachelor's and master's degrees in social work from the University of Alabama and hasattended classes at Anne Arundel Community College in business administration.

A resident of Arnold, Bassindale is an active member of the Maryland chapter of American Business Women's Association in Annapolis. She assists the president of Design Teams and McCrone Inc., and most recently completed a company secretaries' standards manual.


Matthew C. Wagner, CPA, was recently appointed as manager of Samson and Sturn, an Annapolis-based accounting and tax consulting firm.

With more than five years' experience in public accounting, Wagner's areas of expertise include corporate, partnership and individual tax matters, business valuations, computer acquisition services and business consulting.

Prior to joining Samson and Sturn, Wagner worked for the internationalaccounting firm of KPMG Peat Marwick in Baltimore and BDO Seidman inWashington, D.C.
