Frank M. Long Accountant was 101

Services for Frank M. Long, a retired accountant, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Hartley Miller Funeral Homes, 7527 Harford Road in Parkville.

Mr. Long, who was born in a row house on Sharp Street in South Baltimore, died Thursday at his Northeast Baltimore apartment after a brief illness. He was 101.

He attended public schools until the eighth grade, when he left school to help out in the family's business. Mr. Long later went back to school and was a graduate of Strayer Business College.

After the Depression, Mr. Long began work for the city's Department of Finance. He retired in 1957.

He was a past grand master of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, where he had been a member for 76 years. He had also served as supreme officer of the Ancient Mystic Order of Samaritans.

Mr. Long was a member of the Odd Fellows' Liberty Lodge No. 10, Monumental Canton Lodge No. 2, Jerusalem Encampment Lodge No. 1 and Jahaza Sanctorum No. 169. He was a member of the Edgemere Moose and the Perry Hall branch of the American Association of Retired Persons.

He was a charter member of the Northwood Appold United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 27 years, the former Doris Koehnlein; a daughter, Darlene Ramsey of Baltimore; two stepdaughters, Carol J. Prentice of Odenton and Doris E. Downs of Millersville; a stepson, Charles F. Nash III of Odenton; and many grandchildren.

The family suggests that donations be sent to the Independent Order of Odd Fellows Grand Lodge of Maryland, 320 S. Highland Ave., Baltimore 21224.
