Gov. William Donald Schaefer today announced separate proposals to help the Kuwaiti government and families of Maryland troops in the Persian Gulf.
Schaefer said he met with the Kuwaiti ambassador in Washington yesterday to propose a partnership with Maryland businesses toward the rebuilding of Kuwait after the war and to encourage Maryland doctors to offer medical assistance to Kuwait. Part of the proposal would involve setting up an office to help Kuwait coordinate the purchase of equipment and services from Maryland businesses.
The office of Ambassador Saud Nasir Sabah confirmed that Schaefer met with the ambassador yesterday but could provide no details today.
