Action on island

The state Board of Public Works approved yesterday the dedication of a 126-acre Potomac River island near Potomac in Montgomery County as the Elting Arnold Conservation Area. Hanna Arnold, wife of the late conservationist, said Mr. Arnold "would very much appreciate the recognition." The island, a 1989 gift to the state from the Nature Conservancy, will continue to be managed as a wildlife habitat.
