Gifts for women

What do women soldiers want?

That's what the Cockeysville-Timonium chapter of the Lioness Club is trying to find out. They're writing to Maryland women stationed in the Persian Gulf and asking what they want or need -- perhaps their favorite shampoo or cosmetics, a novel, book of crossword puzzles or some favorite thing from home.

"The war situation is on everyone's mind, and most of the emphasis is not on the women there," said Elaine Coniff, president of the chapter.

The club has written several letters so far, but has gotten no response yet. It is asking Marylanders who know a woman soldier in the gulf to contact the club.

"We'd love to know the names and ages of the women, and maybe something else about them," said Mrs. Coniff. Anyone interested in helping the effort can write her at: 11 Cedar Knoll Road, Cockeysville 21030.
