Meade Boys And Girls Take Region Track Titles

February 13, 1991|By Staff report

Meade indoor track coach Jay Cuthbert stresses to his athletes that all they have to do is compete, "and the points and times will take care of themselves."

That certainly held true in Monday's region meet at the 5th Regiment Armory in Baltimore.

The Mustangs swept the boys and girls team titles, and in the process qualified a host of competitors for next week's state meet.

The Meade boys qualified members in 11 of 12 events, while its girls did likewise in eight of 10.

"The girls were a pleasant surprise this time, but all of the kids ran well. It was a total team effort," Cuthbert said.

In looking ahead to next week, Cuthbert said, "I hope we can be as competitive in the states. There are going to be sometough teams. Eleanor Roosevelt and Suitland are always tough, and Perry Hall and Old Mill will score. Overall, I'm sure it'll be very competitive."
