Brian C. Dempsey, the 21-year-old son of Mary and John Dempsey, attended Archbishop Curley before becoming a business major at Towson State University. He works part time in the campus book store and is secretary of the Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity which named him their 1990 man of the year.
How would you describe your taste in clothing?
That depends on what's happening in my life. For classes, I usually wear jeans with white Sperry shoes, a turtleneck, (everyone wears turtlenecks) a sweater or frat sweatshirt.
For dress, I like to wear a light gray two-piece suit. When I'm going out to the bars or to a sorority social, I wear jeans with vest. Often the socials have themes, so you know what to wear.
7+ What's the newest thing in your closet?
A tuxedo my parents gave me for Christmas. I haven't worn it yet, but I'm planning a night at the opera and I'll wear it then. After all, if you wear a tuxedo three times, it pays for itself.
What's the oldest thing in your closet?
A black belt that I've had forever. Guys don't like to buy new belts even though the old one has a hole that is all worn away.
Do you have a true "standby" that you wear to feel good?
pair of brown chino pants with a neutral turtle neck, neutral sweater and brown loafers. I try to keep my colors neutral .
What have you held on to for sentimental reasons?
tie and uniform shirt from parochial elementary school. The tie was an awful brown and white plaid.
What is your wardrobe weakness?
Ties. I must have least 40 ties at school and more at home. My favorites are the Liberty of London florals.

4 What's the wildest outfit you've ever bought?
DIt's a T-shirt that I bought at Saks for a luau social we had at the fraternity. It has plum colored flowers on top of turquoise paisley, and I wore white shorts with it.
What are your favorite accessories?
I like cuff links. My dad gave me an old pair that has a huntinscene on them. That's when I bought a couple of shirts with French cuffs.
What's the dress code at school?
Anything goes as long as it's casual. Style is influenced by the peer group -- art majors go around wearing black and jocks wear lots of college sweat shirts and jeans.
Do you have shopping tips you'd like to share?
DNever pay full price for clothes. Wait until the season is half over and it will cost you half the price. When I worked I really took advantage of employee discounts to build my wardrobe.
