Columbia Freestate Celebrates Opening

Columbia Freestate Health System will open its new Annapolis headquarters, the 66,000-square foot Annapolis Regional Medical Center, witha celebration from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Feb. 11 at the West Woods complex on Admiral Cochrane Drive in Annapolis.

Columbia Freestate will give tours and presentations of the new facility, provide refreshments and give presents to visitors.

More than 50 area business and health care community leaders are expected to attend the open house.


The West Anne Arundel Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring a Business Connection from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Feb. 13 at Hayward Baker, 1130 Annapolis Road, Suite 202, Odenton.

The connection presents an opportunity for chamber members to display their promotional materials. It will cost $5 per person with reservations, or $8 at the door. Cost for non-members is $10.

The Anne Arundel chapter of Associated Builders and Contractors will be sponsoring an educational seminar from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Feb. 13 at the Holiday Inn, Riva Road, Annapolis.

"Trenching and Excavation: The Revised MOSHA Regulations" will be discussed by Donn and Pat Falls, owners of Firstline Safety Management Inc.

A number of topics will be covered, including requirements for an on-site, shoring changes and in-field soil classification. Companies affected by the regulations are utility contractors, plumbing contractors, site contractors, home builders, electrical and mechanical contractors, excavators and dirt-moving contractors.

Loews Annapolis Hotel, located on West Street in Annapolis, will soon reopen its Corinthian Restaurant.

Index Design worked in conjunction with the architectural firm of Reithlingsholfer, Smith and Associates of Annapolis in developing the new restaurant.

The Corinthian's menu will retain old favorites, such as New York sirloin strip and lemon baked crabs with angel hair pasta,and add new items, like poached salmon filet with dill cream and sole roulade with capers and lemon butter.

Loews Annapolis Hotel is one of 13 Loews hotels, a division of Loews Corporation, and the only 4-Diamond Hotel in the Annapolis area.


The North Arundel Chamber of Commerce will sponsor a generalmembership luncheon at noon, Feb. 12, at La Fountaine Bleu in Glen Burnie.

Tom Tasselmyer from WBAL-TV will be the featured speaker atthe luncheon. He will discuss the winter weather and weather reportson local television channels.

Muriel Yilmazcetin, president of MentorInc., a Severna Park-based business consulting firm specializing in Human Resources, has joined Gayle Van Horn, formerly of Booz, Allen &Hamilton and Evaluation Technologies Inc., to form Mentor Associates.

The new partnership will provide employee management services, helping businesses create personnel systems, benefits and compensationplans, programs and policies that are competitive and supportive of company objectives, profitability and growth.

Mentor Associates will also assist businesses with day-to-day operations, including record keeping, government compliance, hiring and more.

Both Van Horn and Yilmazcetin have extensive human resources management experience totaling a combined 32 years.
