Thunder preview

February 08, 1991|By Doug Brown

VS. NEW YORK SAINTS

* WHEN: Tomorrow, 8 p.m.

* WHERE: Baltimore Arena.

* OUTLOOK: Idle in the Major Indoor Lacrosse League since Jan. 26, the Thunder (2-2) takes a two-game winning streak into its game against the Saints (2-3). Jeff Jackson leads the Thunder in goals with 10, followed by Ricky Sowell (nine). The Saints upset the Detroit Turbos (4-1) last week, 19-13, managing to do what no other team has -- check Gary and Paul Gait. The Turbos led after the first quarter, 8-1, but the Saints turned up the defensive pressure. "They were all over the Gaits," Thunder coach John Stewart said. "New York used its speed and experience, got the ground balls and ran a lot of fastbreaks." Jeff Nicklas paces the Saints in scoring with 11 goals and Mike Cummings has 10.
