James C. Rice Retired pipefitter

Services for James C. Rice, a retired pipefitter, will be held at 7 p.m. today at the Mount Zion Church of God in Christ, 2539 E. Oliver St.

Mr. Rice, who was 53 and lived on North Chester Street, died Sunday at Johns Hopkins Hospital of complications to diabetes.

He had worked a short time at the Key Highway Shipyard of the Bethlehem Steel Corp. after many years with the American Smelting and Refining Co.

Born in Baltimore, he attended public schools and the Baltimore Academy of the Seventh-day Adventists.

He is survived by his wife, the former Sylvia Baker; a daughter, Millie Rice; three sons, James Clarence, James Douglass and Willie Edward Rice; two stepdaughters, Linda and Charlotte Baker; four stepsons, John, Brian, Gregory and Horace Baker; and three sisters, Mamie Cook, Johnie Roy and Margerine McCleod. All are of Baltimore.
