SHOOTING/ARREST: Western District -- Police arrested a man last night in connection with the shooting of Joann Bailey, of the 1400 block of W. Fayette St., during a domestic argument at her home earlier in the evening. Police said Bailey was arguing about 6 p.m. with a man with whom she lives when she was shot in the left side of the chest. Police said Bailey was taken to the University of Maryland Medical Center, where she was listed in good condition today. Ollie Sawyer, 35, of the same address, was arrested and charged with attempted murder, using a handgun in the commission of a felony, discharging a handgun in the city and common assault. Police said Sawyer was held overnight at the station pending a bail hearing before a District Court commissioner.

ROBBERY: Southeastern District -- Denya Hilton, of the 600 block of N. Highland Ave., reported she was walking in the 500 block of N. Bouldin St. Tuesday night when she was stopped by a man armed with a handgun who placed the weapon in her back and demanded her money. Police said the gunman fled with more than $100.

ROBBERY: Southeastern District -- Police reported that Joann Wood, of the 600 block of N. Decker Ave., was in the 3100 block of E. Monument St. when she was accosted by a man armed with a small-caliber handgun who demanded she give up her money. Police said Wood gave the gunman $5.

ROBBERY: Southeastern District -- Police were seeking two men, one armed with a knife, who accosted Nancy Thomas, of the 1200 block of Urban Way, while she was in the 1000 block of Dundalk Ave. yesterday afternoon and forced her to give up her leather jacket, cash and wedding ring. Police said the two men fled with property valued at more than $1,200.

ROBBERY: Southeastern District -- Police reported that three men escaped with an undisclosed sum of cash after entering the office at the Super Fresh food store in the 2700 block of Foster Ave. and demanding money. Police said the three, one armed with a handgun, forced their way into the store's office about 9 a.m. yesterday and demanded money. Police said that after an employee gave them money from the safe, the armed man and his accomplices also demanded money kept in at least one cash drawer. Police said the three drove off in a car later recovered downtown. Police said the car had been stolen.

BURGLARY: Southeastern District -- A resident of the 2400 block of McElderry St. reported that someone forced open a rear door of her home yesterday and removed property valued at $800.

THEFT: Northeastern District -- Jerry Hairston, of the 2700 block of Tivoly Ave., reported that someone entered his car while the vehicle was parked near his home and removed a pouch containing a gold ring. Police said the value of the ring was not known and that a man known to Hairston is suspected of taking the property.

THEFT: Northeastern District -- Frank Lavin, of the 5600 block of Patterson Road in Baldwin, reported his car was parked in the 6500 block of Hane Lane near North Point Road over the past four days when someone broke into the vehicle and removed stereo equipment valued at nearly $600.

THEFT: Northeastern District -- Police reported that property valued at more than $600 was removed from the back yard of Ronald Carter, of the 3400 block of Roselawn Ave., between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. yesterday.

ROBBERY: Northern District -- Robert Devries, of the 2200 block of Lake Ave., reported he was walking toward his car in the 2800 block of Loch Raven Blvd. shortly before 7 p.m. yesterday when he was stopped by a man armed with a handgun who demanded his wallet. Police said the gunman escaped with more than $100.

ROBBERY: Northeastern District -- Joyce Johnson, of the 1900 block of Woodbourne Ave., reported she was walking in the 5400 block of Hillen Road shortly before noon yesterday when a man approached her from the rear and stole her purse. Police said the purse contained cash and property valued at more than $400.

THEFT: Northeastern District -- Randolph Scott, 45, of the 1900 block of Heathfield Road, reported that someone entered his home and removed a VCR. Police said the property was valued at $300.

ROBBERY: Northeastern District -- Police reported that Josephine Appolonia, of the 3200 block of Harwell Ave., was walking near her home yesterday afternoon when she was stopped by a young woman who asked her for a quarter. Police said the woman then grabbed Appolonia's purse containing more than $100 and fled.

BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- A resident of the 1500 block of Upshire Road reported that someone broke into his apartment and removed property valued at more than $400.

ROBBERY: Northeastern District -- Kathy Carter, of the 4300 block of Clareway, reported she was in the 3600 block of Bonview Ave. yesterday evening when she was assaulted by two teen-agers who stole her purse after twisting her arm. Police said the purse contained more than $100.
