February 07, 1991

Services for Esther W. Messenger, a resident of Federalsburg for most of her 84 years, will be held at 1 p.m. today at the Framotom-Hawkins-Eskow Funeral Home there.

Mrs. Messenger died Sunday after an apparent heart attack at her home in Federalsburg.

The former Esther White, a graduate of the Federalsburg High School, moved to Lewes, Del., for a short time after her marriage to Henry Burdette Messenger Jr. He was a fuel oil dealer in Federalsburg before his death in 1965.

A member of Christ United Methodist Church longer than anyone else currently in the congregation, she was a former member of the Nanticoke Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, the auxiliary of Memorial Hospital in Easton, the Woman's Club of Federalsburg and parent-teacher groups.

She is survived by a daughter, Virginia Messenger Liddicoat, of Federalsburg; three sons, Donald B. Messenger of Laurel, Henry Burdette Messenger of Salinas, Calif., and Guy Robert Messenger of Ellicott City; two sisters, Gladys Kowalewski of Federalsburg and Hilda Cary of Baltimore; and seven grandchildren.
